Rhyas

The DJ formerly known as Caustic came from a solid diet of rock and metal in his youth, and got turned onto Drum 'n' Bass by attending monthly nights "The Breaks" at Hertzog in Auckland as one of the underage, fake-ID holding massive. Initially mainly interested in the more jungley sound of the mid-90s, Rhyas started buying records such as Ram Recordings' "Molten Beats" and early Tru Playaz in 1999.

Since then, the styles that Rhyas plays have spread more over the full D'n'B spectrum, with both smooth liquid to jungle to heavy hardstep styles featuring in any one set from Caustic.

Highlights for Rhyas so far have been supporting international acts that his crew SBK have brought down to Dunedin, including DJ Bailey, Matrix, Fierce, Mickey Finn, Cause 4 Concern.

Having returned to Auckland for a brief sojurn for the latter part of 2006, Rhyas is back in town and will be laying it down whenever he gets the chance.
