Phil O

Coming from his roots of metal drumming, Phil O is a force to be reckoned with behind the decks.

Phil O learned drums from the age of 12, and racked himself up 7 years of lessons. In 1999 he joined huge black / death metal band Dawn of Azazel at the age of 16. From here he toured NZ, Australia (twice) and Europe with the band. He was also in a popular Grindcore band called Graymalkin who toured Nz last year and played regularly around the country, especially at Valve in Wellington. Phil O then left these bands to do uni down here in Dunedin town.

He originally got hooked on Drum and Bass in 2002 at pre-eminent Auckland club Fu Bar. Since then Phil O has DJ'd at Bath St, The Vatican, 12 Below, Toast, Backstage, Safari Lounge and Foci.

Phil O has very recently gotten into the production side of things; despite his self confessed newb status, his background comes through - just listen to one of his very first tunes in the player above.

Watch out for this man - his tight skills and full spectrum style means that he is definitely one to keep an eye on.
